2007-12-22 - making god laugh

It's never so simple as my entries mke it sound. I finished the entry last night, went upstairs, got into bed...and that's when the phone rang, the baby woke up, and KC's pager went off. Luckily, the call was a wrong number, the baby settled back down right away, and hey, I'm not in the fire department, so what do I care? I could stay in bed.

KC had put in A Christmas Carol (the Patrick Stewart one) and I had Good Omens, so I was quite comfortable. Fell asleep with the book on my face, so got the lights out and was just about gone when KC got home. (Backfired oil heater up the street.) Leah came in saying that Cookie Monster was scaring her with his "spooky eyes", so he got that settled, and that's the last I knew of anything till Adam woke up at 6:30, soaked through and covered in snot.

Then Howard came in, begging desperately to go out. And then Leah came flying in and jumped into bed with everyone. I have to practically haul in a marching band playing the 1812 Overture to get her out of bed on a school morning, and here the entire house is awake by 7am on a holiday weekend. So! KC let out the dog and made coffee, Leah jumped in the shower, I put on Plaza Sesamo and tried to get Adam to say "Mama". He crawled across the bed, gave me a "talk to the hand" gesture, said "BA BA!" and waved.

The little shit actually was trying to get away from me. And then he tried to snatch my coffee. Pffft. Ungrateful little bastard. I brought him into this world. I can take him out.

Today's list: breakfast (frozen waffles yum), more coffee, then Borders with Miss Leah, so she can buy something for her daddy and so I can find a book for Tug. And then, I think, we're done, except for some things for Christmas dinner. How I managed to stock up and yet, not get chicken is beyond me.
