2007-12-19 - she's long gone with the red shoes on
I have reached a relaxed state about the holidays this evening; this is no doubt in part due to the six or seven vodka and tonics I had at my event tonight, but today I also started my new job and got more Christmas shopping done. It was busy and tense at the time, but now I am glad it's done. Wrapping it all is going to suck, but I'll worry about that in the morning. I am also drunk enough to confess that I don't give a rat's ass about Ashley Marie Spears is pregnant, or whatever her name is. I have an eight year old daughter who doesn't watch Zoey 101, so I can afford to ignore it, but even then I might still not care. Their mother, though, is the most naive woman in the world. "She was always in by curfew!" So was I. Know what I was doing when I got in before curfew? YEAH. What, at midnight her cootch turned into a mousetrap? Whatever, lady. I'm so not into it that I totally read a CNN story about it! Hee. I know, I know. My main point is that I am not using this as a Teachable Moment with my Impressionable Young Daughter. Every second of every day does not have to be an afterschool special with a valuable life lesson. Sometimes, dude, you just live by example. Like, say, being 35 years old and saying "dude"? NOT THE WAY TO LIVE YOUR LIFE. Right. I'm going to get a drink of water and take some Aleve and a shower. Wake me the next time the Spears sisters do something dumb. See you at 3. |
