2006-12-11 - back among the living
Tomorrow the King Ad-Rock (as my brother has so lovingly dubbed my wee secondborn) will be two weeks old, and apparently that is the accepted amount of time to leave new mommas alone, because today, my house needed a revolving door. Not that I am complaining, because before everyone started to arrive I spent a good chunk of time fighting with KC via email. It ended well; basically I was irritated because now that my driving moratorium has been lifted, he is all "well, now you can do all these crucial errands that must get done because otherwise Bad Things will happen", which, fine, but he had two entire weeks off in which he got nothing done, despite my truly low-key requests. (No, I'm serious. It was stuff like "vacuum the upstairs".) So now, I am back in the game and suddenly I am back to being the family pack mule. I totally lost my shit. And he was all "well, what do you want me to do about it, I have no time left", and what I was thinking was "spend time with your own damn family instead of being Mr. Sensitive Guy to all the other women you know" but what I said was "I want you to listen to me vent because the only people I talk to all day are Leah and Adam FOR THE LOVE OF GOD" which, in the end, is really the biggest problem. And lo, a friend from work stopped by and we gossiped for an hour, and then my friend Kris called and asked if it was okay if she came by with her daughter, who is best buds with Leah, and I said sure and hey, stay for dinner, I am making burritos, and then my brother called and KC told him he never has to ask to come over, which he doesn't, unless he is bringing my grandfather, in which case I need some prior warning so I can make sure the house is semi-tidy so he does not break his neck. I also did some Christmas decorating today; the dining room looks quite festive. And KC came home and vacuumed the upstairs like I asked him to do before Thanksgiving, so. If I can get everything but the baby clutter out of the dining room, I will consider this a week well spent. First I have to manage the DMV and a pediatrician appointment tomorrow. There's nothing like being in labor and remembering that your registration expires at the end of the month, but you'll be in the hospital until then. Oops. |
