2006-12-10 - rapidly narrowing world
Doing a bit better on sleep today; Adam pulled another 10pm to 2am stand, but this time I was better prepared and mostly enjoyed the ride. I figured it was enforced rest on the couch, and once he went down I was assured of a decent stretch from roughly 2am till about 9 or so, and that's exactly what happened. We did a bit of shopping today; we went out and got Leah her Christmas dress. The one she's had her heart set on was no longer available in her size, of course, because we are horrible procrastinating parents. She took it in stride, thugh, and found something else which is dead cute and actually makes her look like Eloise. I'll have to get a picture when she and her daddy got to New York on the 23rd. (He is taking her to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas show, just the two of them. He is either the best dad in the world or slightly insane. Or possibly both.) After that, I did some more sitting and feeding and general uselessness, made dinner (most of which had been marinating in a crockpot all day; vive le pot roast), and then when the baby went down around seven KC sent me upstairs to sleep while he wrangled Leah's bedtime routine and did laundry. He brought the kiddo up to me about 9:30, whereupon I lay down to feed him and the two of us promptly conked out for another hour. Which means, of course, another long stretch starting right about...now. My fault this time. But we are upstairs, I have cold water, and have mastered the art of balancing a baby and a Harry Potter book on a pillow. We're going to be just fine. |
